The Flipside by Selfridges and Google Pixel 2
Evening people,
Today I visited another exhibition offered to us by our tutor at the FRA. As you know, I love an exhibition. It was all based on luxury and how luxury is perceived in our eyes and how it will look in the future. This exhibition was brought to us by Selfridges & Co and Google Pixel 2, it was very interactive which I loved.
We began the exhibition in a room of mirrors, I'd love to have one in my room! Of course, me and Gabby had to take a boomerang (you will be able to see in my Instagram highlights.. @mitchellpreston_).
After, we was directed into this room which had glass boxes filled with technology and fashion pieces from generations ago, showing us that technology and fashion has changed a lot already and is heading in a new direction.
Then we walked along this panel with luxury grey carpet into the next room.. we was spoken to by a tour guide who asked us if we knew who Mr Lyan was, in which we replied no. We when was shown a room, which we needed to decide which section we was, which we liked, A, B or C. I chose B. In the next room was a bar tender / laboratory assistant. He told me my decision was scotch... gross! To be fair, it didn't taste awful.. but vodka is definitely my spirit.
Next we walked through the grey carpet and into a beach setting, sandy floors and a lovely beach background.. we knew this was going to be Louis Vuitton. The room after showed us Louis Vuitton travel, floating islands with a piece of Louis Vuitton luggage on it. It was really interesting.
We the arrived to the clean water part of the exhibition, this is where they told us information regarding clean water.. who knew that in the future we are going to run out of clean purified water!? Selfridges are therefore re-categorising purified water as a luxury product. They even gave us a free bottle!
Next step was the sundial. Selfridges used technology to condense the sundial of the day to an hour. It was really cool to see the light going round the massive sundial we was standing on, an example is also on my highlights in my Instagram page!
Finally we reach my favourite part of the exhibition.. The Google Pixel 2 camera! We stood behind this massive electronic circle, and used a dial to select three images which we relate to being 'luxury'. They then took four photos to make a gif. After we completed this we was asked to put our email in and it would send us our gif and a photo also. The photograph was also printed.. for free! Here's my photo, not the best but it is still cool!
I was so impressed with this exhibition. It was free and really interactive. If you are in London between until 20.05.18 I really recommend you go!
