GCDS SS19 READY-TO-WEAR

Afternoon everyone,
It's obvious that I haven't been as active the past few months as I haven't posted since May which is so bad! I am hoping to start posting more frequently.

Just a few updates, I graduated with a Distinction from my Level 4 Fashion Retail course and it was amazing.. I then decided last minute to apply for the degree course and I am now studying Marketing and Communications for Fashion!

The main reason I haven't posted is because I have been working at the pub sometimes up to 50 hours a week, holding with my assistant manager and it has been absolutely draining! I can tell you however, it has been an experience.. I have decided to leave the pub however and my last day was yesterday, woo! I start my new job this week, which is also very exciting.

So, I thought my first post back would be based on the Milan GCDS Spring Summer 2019fashion show, which I first saw on Instagram and was captivated by their use of diversity in their models.
The most intriguing part was that they used three breasted prostetic models. I personally haven't seen this before on the catwalk so seeing this in a bandeau was interesting.

Besides the diversity of showing the beauty of the accessory breast, which is also known as polymastia, it also shows this condition in a sexy light, which would perhaps help women who have this condition to come to terms with it and be positive for being different!

The use of models of different ethnic backgrounds both men and women also show diversity, suggesting that GCDS are producing fashion for the mass market and would like to appeal to everyone and making people be proud of who they are, their heritage and their bodies.

The skin condition 'vitiligo' is also seen in this fashion show, on a beautiful model. Again, showing diversity and beauty in other lights.

In addition, tattoo-covered models also walked the catwalk.

The collection itself was fun and fresh. Very streetwear, GCDS stands for God Can't Destroy Streetwear. It was founded by Giuliano and Giordano Calza (who are brothers), and Walter D'Aprile in 2015.

Knee high boots with Pikachu designs were showcased in the fashion show, as well as some highly fashionable pieces, including glitter-metallic material high-heeled boots. Jersey, Knitwear and denim was all included in the collection.

Overall, this is a designer brand I will definitely be keeping an eye on in the future as they know how to capture an audience.
