Super Sharp Exhibition

IMG_8388

Yesterday after I finished college me and some of the girls went to visit the Super Sharp exhibition at the Fashion Space Gallery located at the London College of Fashion on Oxford Street. We decided to go to try and gain some primary research for our final projects considering I am doing a major streetwear brand.

It was all about the Garage, Jungle and rave music scenes in the 80's and more so the 90's and how branding was increasingly becoming more popular, especially with the influence of Italian brands! Moschino was the main brand itemised in the exhibition, this is because the Moschino look was the most associated look of the era.

Ravers would spend hundred and hundreds of pounds on outfits to go to raves in the 90's most of them being Moschino, but other labels included Fila, Gucci and D&G. This shows the strong influence of high-end Italian fashion labels on the British culture and history of British style. There is no doubt that branding and high-end fashion labels still has the same buzz at present either, a lot of the information in the exhibition pointed to out current status in the rave scene is extremely similar to that in the 90's. The main element that has changed is the style of music and the use of technology, the internet and social media.

Although considerably smaller than previous exhibitions I have been to, I found this really interesting and I'm glad I went as it does finish on the 21st April 2018. I definitely will use some of the information I gained in my final project and of course, I got to write this post on my experience 😛
